I’ve made some new pictures inspired by multi-coloured plastic bingo chips. I’ve used bright, randomly-generated colour schemes for these. They’re overlaid on an aperiodic tiling with local ninefold rotational symmetry. I’m not sure yet what I’ll do with these, if anything.
This is my first blog post ever, and it seems like an auspicious date. I don’t have a lot to say right now, but I’ll be adding more as I learn the ropes.
I’m Greg Maloney, a mathematician and artist, and GMGeometry is my blog about mathematical art. My mathematical research is in the theory of aperiodic tilings, about which you can read more at The Tilings Encyclopedia, where you can find an aperiodic tiling that I discovered.
In the near future, look for announcements about my patterns for sale on fabrics, wallpapers, and wall decals.
